Bathing lakes in the region
Our favorite bathing spots are: Pehlitzwerder, Kuhbad and the campsite on Lake Parstein. Brodowinsee and Rosinsee are also great. Some of the bathing spots are not directly accessible by car; a short walk is required for some of them.
Viewpoint Rummelsberg
At 81 meters high, it is the most important viewpoint in the region. Due to the rare continental dry grassland, it is a nature reserve off the beaten track. The glacial landscape is very fascinating!
Packhorse tours Brandenburg
Biologist Sara Fuchs leads donkey and nature tours through the most beautiful areas of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve and the Lower Oder Valley National Park.
Pehlitzwerder
Depending on the water level of the large Lake Parstein, Pehlitzwerder is either an island or a peninsula. A Slavic rampart and the remains of the walls of the Cistercian monastery "Mariensee" - the forerunner of the "Chorin Monastery" - can still be admired today.
Chorin Monastery
A masterpiece of Brandenburg brick Gothic architecture. From Brodowin, the monastery is easy to reach on foot or by bike along forest paths. We have been running a monastery café with organic products there since 2013.
Chorin Summer of Music
The audience listens to the classical concerts in the central nave of the basilica or with a picnic on the lawn in the inner courtyard.
Schorfheide Chorin Biosphere Reserve
Schorfheide Wildlife Park
Admire endangered breeds of domestic animals and wild animals that live here. The wildlife park team is happy to organize guided tours, including feeding the wolves and baking cakes around the campfire.
Niederfinow boat lift
A unique monument to German engineering history. From the visitor platform, you can enjoy the view of the Niederoderbruch, Falkenberg and Liepe. Passenger boats offer trips and you can also dine locally.
Historic Finow Canal
Family Garden Eberswalde
Highlights: the variously designed gardens, the sweeping view from the 28-metre-high viewing platform of the Montage-Eber crane, the fairytale play area and exploring the underground operating arks by pedalo.
Eberswalde Zoological Garden
It is considered one of the best small zoos in Germany and is particularly impressive due to its natural location in the middle of light forests. The diversity of species extends over 1,400 animals from five continents.
Cycling and hiking trails
Hiking trails
1. from the Kleiner Rummelsberg you have a panoramic view over the lakes and fields. You can conquer the mountain via 147 steps. If visibility is good, the view extends as far as Schwedt. The end moraine landscape is particularly impressive from here. At 81 m high, the Kleiner Rummelsberg is half a meter smaller than the nearby Großer Rummelsberg, the largest elevation in Brodowin. The hike from Brodowin leads along the old mill and past orchards.
The steppe grassland of the Rummelsberg provides a comfortable habitat for a variety of insects. Where there are lots of insects, birds also feel very much at home and so a considerable number of birds can be admired around the Rummelsberg, including rare species. The Kleine Rummelsberg is also a popular destination for ornithologists and birdwatchers.
2. the Pehlitzwerder peninsula in the large Parsteiner See lake is particularly impressive with its ancient trees and the ruins of the Mariensee monastery. There is also a campsite there.
3. the Amtsweg connects Brodowin with Chorin and leads through magnificent beech forests to the Amtssee lake and from there to the famous Cistercian abbey "Chorin Monastery". Here you will also find the monastery café, which is run by the Brodowin eco-village. A branch of the famous Way of St. James also runs along the monastery.
Many paths (of St. James) lead to Santiago de Compostela
The Way of St. James, designated a European Cultural Route in 1987, is part of an extensive network of paths in Europe. To this day, all of these routes have one destination: the Holy Sepulchre of the Apostle James in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
In Barnim, the approx. 60 km long Way of St. James stretches from Groß Ziethen to Bernau. Along the Via Imperii and Via Regia, it leads to historical sites such as Chorin Monastery and also passes Brodowin. In the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve, it offers countless nature experiences before ending in Bernau at the richly decorated St. Mary's Church.
The Brodowin eco-village with its farm store and café invites you to take a break and explore.
